Treatment for atherosclerosis depends on the severity and location of the disease. Options include:

  • Medications: Statins to lower cholesterol, blood pressure medications, blood thinners to prevent clot formation, and medications to manage diabetes are commonly used.

  • Lifestyle Changes: The same lifestyle modifications mentioned for prevention are also crucial for treatment.

  • Procedures: In cases of severe blockage, procedures such as angioplasty (balloon angioplasty) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) may be necessary to restore blood flow.
